Privacy Policy
Last updated 27 July 2026
The short version. The apps have no accounts and no logins. They do not collect, transmit or sell your personal information. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no tracking of any kind. Your data stays on your device.
This policy covers three iOS apps published by Eric Fortuna: AuraVolleyball, Aura Volleyball Scorekeeper, and Volleyball Referee Signals (together, "the apps"), and this website, auravolleyball.com.
Information the apps collect
None. The apps do not collect personal information. There is no sign-up, no account, no email capture and no user profile. Apple's privacy manifest included with the apps declares no tracking, no tracking domains, and no collected data types.
Information stored on your device
The apps save your preferences and content locally so they work the way you left them. This never leaves your device except where you explicitly send it:
- Teams you have favorited, and your ranking and schedule filter preferences
- Match scores, point logs and saved match history in the scorekeeper
- Cached ranking and schedule data, so the app is usable in a gym with poor signal
- Calendar events you choose to import
This is stored using Apple's standard local storage (UserDefaults), declared under reason code CA92.1 — app functionality only. Deleting an app removes this data. Nothing is recoverable by me, because I never had it.
Network requests the apps make
AuraVolleyball fetches publicly available rankings and tournament schedules so it can show them to you. These requests contain no identifying information about you — no account, no device identifier, no advertising ID. The sources are:
- Advanced Event Systems (AES / SportsEngine) — published rankings and event schedules
- VolleyLens — published Elo rankings
- The Ohio Valley Region calendar and national event directories
- Calendar feeds (iCal) you choose to add
Aura Volleyball Scorekeeper and Volleyball Referee Signals make no network requests for content at all. They work entirely offline.
Data about athletes
AuraVolleyball displays team rankings, tournament schedules and rosters that are already published publicly by Advanced Event Systems and VolleyLens. It does not access private club systems, does not scrape non-public sources, and does not collect any information about any athlete beyond what those organizations already publish.
If you are a club administrator or a parent with a question or concern about published data appearing in the app, email support@auravolleyball.com and I will respond personally.
Calendar access
If you choose to import or export tournament schedules, iOS will ask your permission to access your calendar. That access is used only to read the calendars you select and to write events you ask to be written. Calendar contents are never transmitted anywhere. You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings.
Children
The apps are rated 4+ and contain no objectionable content, but they are designed for parents, coaches and officials rather than for children. They are not directed to children under 13 and do not knowingly collect information from anyone — of any age.
This website
auravolleyball.com does not require an account and does not ask for personal information. If privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics are added to understand which pages are read, this policy will be updated to say so before it happens.
Affiliate links. Some pages in the gear guides section contain affiliate links to Amazon. If you follow one and make a purchase, I may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Following such a link takes you to Amazon, where Amazon's own privacy policy governs what they collect. I do not receive any personal information about you from Amazon — only aggregate reporting on clicks and orders. Every affiliate link is labeled as one.
Third parties
There is no advertising network, no analytics provider, and no data broker involved in the apps. Nothing is sold or shared, because nothing is collected. Apple processes purchases and provides me with anonymous aggregate sales reporting under Apple's privacy policy.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
